Now help us get the word out.

Thirty neighbors put this campaign on its feet — that's the number the city sets before a candidate can ask for Fair Elections funds. Ballots go out October 5. Between now and then, every contribution goes to reaching District 1 voters with the message: integrity and balance. On every council decision, name what's being traded, then publish the record that shows whether it worked. If you live in Berkeley, your contribution is eligible for the city's 6-to-1 match — $10 becomes $70, and $60 becomes $420.

01How much

$60 is the ceiling. Pick whatever is comfortable. For Berkeley residents the city's 6-to-1 match applies, so $10 puts $70 to work and $60 puts $420 to work.

Not tax-deductible. Contributions to a political campaign aren’t deductible for federal or California income tax purposes. This isn’t a charitable gift — it’s a political one.

Giving by check

Fill in and sign the receipt below, the same as a card contribution. You'll download it as a PDF. Print it and mail it in the same envelope as your check. No printer? Email the PDF to info@kromerforberkeley.org and mail the check on its own. The city needs the signed receipt and a copy of your check before it will match a contribution.

  1. Make the check payable to Kromer for City Council 2026, exactly as written.
  2. Use a personal check from your own account with your name printed on it. The city does not allow contributions from a business, LLC, or nonprofit account, including your own business.
  3. The person who signs the check signs the receipt. On a joint account, two people can each give up to $60 on one check if both sign the check, and each fills out a separate receipt.
  4. If your home street address isn't printed on the check, or the printed one is out of date, write your home address on it. The city requires the residential address on the check copy it reviews.
  5. $60 is the most one person can give in total, across check and card.

Live in Berkeley and prefer pen and paper? Download the city's receipt form with our committee and candidate already filled in. Sign it by hand and mail it with your check. The city's form has you certify that you live in Berkeley, so if you live somewhere else, use the receipt below.

02Who you are

Berkeley requires every one of these on a contribution receipt. Your home address is how the city confirms residency for the match — it isn't published by us.

03Occupation & employer

Berkeley itemizes contributions at $50 and up — lower than the state's $100 — so these are required at that level.

04Sign it

Berkeley Municipal Code § 2.12.500.A.3.a requires a hand-drawn signature — a typed name or a checkbox doesn't count, and an unsigned contribution can't be matched. Use your finger on a phone, or your mouse.
